Budo-Kan Fighting Arts of Fresno

I began training at the age of 11 in Fresno, California. My first Karate Instructor was Sensei, Greg Dow; who moved to California in the early 70’s and trained under Sensei, Toyotaro Miyazaki, in New York. I achieved the rank of (Purple II).   After a year off of training, I joined Sensei, Stuart Quan, School who was Sensei Dow’s outstanding student and for his own reasons he broke away to begin his own Karate School. Sensei Quan was a Second Degree Black Belt and opened up his own dojo in Fresno, California. Sensei, Greg Dow, moved away and opened up another dojo in the Pacific Grove, Ca. I received my Black Belt December 20, 1989, and began teaching full-time for Sensei Quan shortly after achieving my Shodan.

Sensei Quan had numerous achievements and National Ranking in the Open Tournament Circuit during the 1980 to 1990’s. I continued training in Shotokan Karate under Sensei Quan until he passed on January 8, 2006.

I competed in Open Style Tournaments and fought Open Style Fighting/Team fighting for many years and I competed in Traditional Japanese Karate tournaments. In addition, I trained and competed in Boxing and Kickboxing.
